Vibrant Destinations of Georgia: Where to Find the Most Extravagant Places to Visit

Georgia may be best known as the home of peach farms and peaches-and-cream iced tea, but it’s also an incredible place to find some of the most vibrant and extravagant places to visit in the United States! From historic landmarks and state parks to the natural wonders of national parks and forests, there are so many places to explore in Georgia! Here are just some of my favorite places that you should put on your must visit list when traveling to this vibrant state. Enjoy!

Centennial Olympic Park

If you’re looking for an extraordinary destination in Georgia, look no further than Centennial Olympic Park. This terrific park was built for the 1996 Summer Olympics and is now a great place to visit year-round. With its beautiful fountains, lush gardens, and majestic skyline views, Centennial Olympic Park is a truly marvelous place. Plus, there’s always something going on at the park, from concerts and festivals to farmers markets and food truck rallies. So whether you’re looking for a place to relax or a place to party, Centennial Olympic Park is sure to please.

In addition to its parks, Atlanta is home to some great museums. One of these terrific places is called Fernbank Museum. It’s an extraordinary destination in Georgia that boasts a huge collection of arts and sciences exhibits, plus it offers educational programs for children and adults alike. So if you’re looking for things to do in Atlanta with kids or just want a place you can go with friends that’s full of science and culture, Fernbank Museum will be sure to delight. It’s another one of those unique destinations in Georgia that are perfect for all kinds of travellers.

Another terrific place in Atlanta that’s worth visiting is Piedmont Park. This marvellous park is a great spot for those who want to get out and enjoy nature, but it also has some wonderful amenities such as sports fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, and even an ice skating rink during winter months. So if you’re looking for a place to relax or have fun outdoors without any stress, Piedmont Park is sure to please. Plus with all its rich history you can learn a lot about Atlanta’s past by visiting here too.

The World of Coca-Cola

Situated in Atlanta, The World of Coca-Cola is a must-see for anyone visiting Georgia. This grand museum tells the story of one of the world’s most popular drinks, and gives visitors a chance to taste over 100 different types of Coke from around the globe. With interactive exhibits, a 4D movie theater, and even a replica bottling plant, The World of Coca-Cola is sure to please everyone in your group.

The Varsity – The Varsity has been serving fast food since 1928, and has become a part of Atlanta culture over time. Come here for classic American burgers and hot dogs, but also take some time out for a milkshake—the hand-dipped style are simply delicious!

Stone Mountain Park – Another popular destination in Atlanta is Stone Mountain Park. This amazing park is home to many things, but its most famous attraction has got to be Racing Rocks—an enormous pile of stones that local legend says can only be moved by a woman and a snake. Be sure to spend some time exploring everything else that Stone Mountain Park has on offer too!

Coca-Cola Factory Tour – No trip to Atlanta would be complete without a visit to a Coca-Cola factory. Tours last about an hour and show guests how the world’s favorite drink is made, including sampling five different flavors. After finishing the tour, you’ll get to try two Cokes while enjoying stunning views of Atlanta’s skyline.
Surfing at Tybee Island – There’s plenty of great surfing spots in Georgia (or surf points as locals call them), but Tybee Island is arguably the best place to surf in America south of North Carolina. It’s not just waves that make this spot so special though; with beautiful beaches, forests with hiking trails through them, a historic lighthouse, and tons more there’s plenty to see when you’re not catching waves!

Historic Oakland Cemetery

Oakland Cemetery is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Atlanta, and for good reason. This cemetery is the final resting place for some of the most influential people in Atlanta’s history, including Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone With the Wind. The cemetery is also home to a beautiful garden, which is perfect for a stroll on a spring day. If you’re looking for a place to learn about Atlanta’s history and enjoy some beautiful scenery, Oakland Cemetery is definitely worth a visit.

There are lots of gorgeous parks in Atlanta, but it’s not every day that you see a botanical garden inside a cemetery. That’s what makes Oakland Cemetery such an awesome place to visit. It’s also home to numerous sculptures and statues, which makes for some great picturesque scenery for photography enthusiasts. On top of all that, there are several famous people buried in Oakland Cemetery; as mentioned above, Margaret Mitchell is interred here along with many other writers and artists who have shaped American history. This historic cemetery is definitely worth checking out!

Every city has unique neighborhoods, and one of Atlanta’s is Grant Park. This neighborhood was founded by former slaves in Atlanta and is full of beautiful historical homes, but it’s more famous for its location. Grant Park is located just south of downtown Atlanta, which means that most people visit on their way from one place to another. However, if you happen to be downtown with some extra time before your next event or appointment, it’s worth a stop in Grant Park for a stroll through history and picturesque scenery.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site

The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Atlanta, and for good reason. This site commemorates the life and work of one of America’s most influential civil rights leaders. The centerpieces of the site are King’s birth home, Ebenezer Baptist Church (where he was a co-pastor), and his tomb. Visitors can also see the I Have a Dream World Peace Rose Garden, which features a granite statue of King.

If you’re in search of luxury, look no further than Atlanta’s Buckhead district. This upscale suburb is popular with tourists and residents alike for its restaurants, clubs, hotels and parks. It’s also home to Phipps Plaza, one of Atlanta’s top shopping destinations. The plaza houses over 200 stores, including Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. For a full day of retail therapy at more affordable prices, check out Lenox Square Mall or Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody or Northlake Mall in nearby Charlotte; all three malls are about 15 minutes from Buckhead by car.

Sweet Auburn Curb Market

Sweet Auburn Curb Market is a historic food market in Atlanta, Georgia, featuring a variety of vendors, from fresh produce to prepared foods. The market is also home to a number of restaurants, making it a great place to grab a bite to eat. The market is open Monday through Saturday, and is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Peachtree Street, a major street in Atlanta, is home to several landmarks that are worth visiting. The High Museum of Art and Fox Theatre both offer exciting exhibits and performances that should not be missed. Alternatively, if you want an escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Atlanta, simply hop on public transportation and explore one of Atlanta’s many parks or green spaces. Freedom Park is located next to Piedmont Park, about 6 miles south-west from downtown. If you need a relaxing place for some exercise or respite with your friends or family, take a walk through Freedom Park where there are amenities such as picnic areas with barbecues and basketball courts.
