If you’re planning a vacation this year, consider the serene and marvelous destinations of Sweden! With lakes, islands, mountains, and moors all over the country, Sweden has something special to offer tourists all throughout the year. Best of all, the entire trip can be tailored to your budget and personal preferences, so you can have your dream vacation without spending too much money on it! Here are some of our favorite serene and marvelous destinations in Sweden that you should definitely visit!

Luleå

Situated in Swedish Lapland, Luleå is a stunningly exotic destination with its own special charm. The town is beautifully set on the Gulf of Bothnia and surrounded by forests, making it the perfect place to get away from it all. In winter, you can enjoy activities such as dog sledding and snowmobiling, while in summer there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing and canoeing. No matter what time of year you visit, Luleå is sure to take your breath away.

For a truly unforgettable Swedish experience, head to Stockholm. While it’s one of Europe’s most recognisable cities, you won’t find yourself surrounded by hoards of tourists in Stockholm as they tend to stick closer to Gamla Stan. The old town is one of Europe’s most beautiful, with old stone buildings and cobbled streets. A number of markets take place in Gamla Stan every week, selling everything from vintage clothes to food that looks too good to eat. One thing you definitely shouldn’t miss while visiting Stockholm is a ride on the world famous ‘Vasamaren’, a ferryboat offering amazing views over Lake Malaren.

For an outdoorsy day out, head to Kalmar. The region is home to a large population of deer, which are free to roam in their natural habitat here. The forest areas surrounding Kalmar are perfect for hiking, biking and canoeing, with opportunities for fishing available on some tours. In summer it’s worth heading to Storsjöbaden, one of Sweden’s oldest public baths. There are six outdoor pools set in attractive grounds that also feature a café and camping facilities for those wishing to stay over. If you’re looking for an urban adventure instead, Malmö is a great option as it’s easily accessible from most major Swedish cities by train or plane.

Boden

Situated in the north of Sweden, Boden is a vibrant town that is home to a fantastic range of shops and restaurants. The scenic harbor is a great place to relax, and the nearby forests and mountains offer plenty of opportunity for exploration. Boden is also home to a number of exotic animals, making it a great destination for animal lovers.
