Kaieteur Falls in the heart of Kanuku Mountains, one of the greatest waterfalls in the world
TheKaieteur Falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Guyana. The falls are located in the Kanuku Mountains, which is a very lush and tropical area. The falls themselves are an amazing sight to behold, and they are also a great place to go for a swim. There are many other great places to visit in Guyana, but the Kaieteur Falls is definitely one of the most unforgettable.

Although Kaieteur Falls are extremely popular and always draw in large crowds, it’s still a very pristine place with lots to see. There is an observation deck at the top that allows you to get a view of both sides and appreciate how incredible it is to have a waterfall that large. From there, you can even hike down to where you can swim near one side of it. It’s also possible to camp around Kaieteur Falls, allowing you to really enjoy all that beauty for as long as possible before heading back home.

The falls are very high, but they are often shrouded in mist, which can make it difficult to see all that well. There is another observation deck at a lower level so you can get a better view than at just above where most people stop. However, no matter how far you go up or down Kaieteur Falls, it’s always going to be something incredible to witness in person and something you’ll never forget. Even though it’s not hard to find pictures online, there’s nothing like seeing it with your own eyes. Guyanas has lots of other wonderful tourist destinations and activities too, so don’t feel like you have to see them all at once!

The capital of the Rupununi District in southern Guyana, Lethem is a small town located on the border with Brazil. Despite its remote location, the town is home to a number of interesting attractions, including the Kaieteur Falls – one of the tallest waterfalls in the world.

The Kaieteur Falls, which are named after a nearby Amerindian tribe and means The Thunderbolt in their language, reach a height of 807 feet. Local legend states that when a British explorer was viewing them for the first time, he threw a coconut at them with such force that it hit one of its ledges, bounced back up and hit him on his head. He then declared that no man should ever try to climb these mighty falls, hence their name.
