Sharshoukhieh is a lentil soup, it’s typically made with garlic, onions, tomatoes and spices such as cumin, coriander and allspice. Some people also add cinnamon or nutmeg for flavor. Traditionally eaten at breakfast time it can be eaten any time of day because it’s so hearty and filling.
Khash is a soup made with whole wheat grains and chicken. The name means bowl in Arabic, and refers to both its roundness and that it’s served in a bowl. It’s often garnished with parsley or sumac on top, as well as crispy fried onions or garlic. Khash is typically eaten as part of a meze platter along with other Lebanese appetizers.
